The University of San Diego has appointed Stephen C. Ferruolo dean of its law school.
Ferruolo is the founding partner and chairman of the San Diego office of Goodwin Procter LLP, an international firm with 850 attorneys in nine offices.
But he also has a track record in academic circles.
Ferruolo was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, earned a Ph.D. in history at Princeton University and served on the faculties at Bennington College and Stanford University. His law degree is from Stanford University.
His 1985 book on the origins of the university remains, according to USD officials, the authoritative work in the field.
