Currently ranked third in the overall order of merit, she has served as brigade commander, a member of the Navy cross-country team, and on the 2009 national championship triathlon team. Caroline has worked in the Pentagon for the Navy Energy Coordination Office and presented at the Mountain Meteorology Conference in Santiago, Chile. In addition to her research in wind climatology, she has worked at the Naval Research Laboratory to improve the accuracy of tropical cyclone forecasting.

Other information:  Melissa has made excellent use of the work terms of her degree to acquire experience in genetic and stem cell research at the University of Manitoba, the National Microbiology Laboratory, and at the Max lanck Institute of Immunobiology in Germany.  She has also distinguished herself as an athlete in aerial dance.  Melissa extends her passions to community outreach, as a coordinator of the Let's Talk Science program and by developing programs in dance for disadvantaged youth in Winnipeg.

She also won top prizes in American history, and is spending this year as a Gordon Grand Public Service Fellow working at a health clinic in Palacios, Bolivia.

Her senior thesis looked at the ways in which weapons technology desensitizes U.S. solders to loss of life, and she is especially interested in just war theory and war crimes law. She is the University of California, Irvine’s first Rhodes Scholar.

She is currently in Mali where she is designing a program on water access and purification. Her photographs have been published in national publications and shown in exhibitions. Gabrielle was also a rider on Dartmouth’s varsity equestrian team.

Native to Corner Brook, she is an active contributor to her local aboriginal community.  She attempts to reconcile the knowledge she has gained as a Traditional Mi’kmaq drummer and First Nations Rights activist with her passion for an art historical understanding of post-colonial artistic practices as a means to reconstruct histories and appraise museology.  Her previous studies in England have acquainted her with a diversity of perspectives, and have encouraged her to contribute to global equity through organizations such as Oxfam and Rotaract.

Other information: Braden graduated in 2009 and is presently in his second year of medical school at the University of Calgary.  Formerly a competitive swimmer, Braden is a runner.  In addition to a high level of academic performance, Braden commits a large part of his schedule to community outreach.  In Edmonton, he worked as an outreach worker in the inner city, and in Calgary has had a key role in the establishment and operation of a Student Run Medical Clinic for the homeless in this city.  He is also active as an advocate for aboriginal health education.  Braden has a particular interest in the impact of medical humanities and patient experience on health policy.

They were granted asylum in the United States. She has done research in the neuroscience of autism and has written on radicalization in Pakistan.
