Rhodes Scholars Gather in Washington, D.C. before Sailing to Oxford
The newest class of Rhodes Scholars will gather in Washington, D.C. for the annual Bon Voyage Weekend, September 26-30, 2009. Hosted by the AARS, the BVW will kick off with an orientation session for new Scholars on Saturday, September 26, 2009. The festivities will conclude with the annual BVW Departure Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Cosmos Club.
A modern substitute for the tradition of sailing to Great Britain, the Bon Voyage Weekend offers the opportunity for the new Rhodes Scholars to get acquainted before they reach Oxford. In keeping with a long-standing tradition, U.S. Scholars will be joined by several Scholars from Canada and the Caribbean.
