Cynthia Barlow will never forget her trip to the Birmingham, Ala., Botanical Gardens.

It was last weekend, among the facility’s 10,000 different plants and more than 25 gardens, where she learned her daughter, Caroline, had been named a Rhodes Scholar.

“I just started crying. I was just so happy and thankful to God for getting her here,” Cynthia Barlow said.
