Kelsey Murrell, a Kearney High School graduate and current University of Kansas senior, has been named a Rhodes Scholar.
Murrell, who graduated from Kearney High in 2008, was one of 32 students awarded a Rhodes Scholarship late last year.
The Kearney school board honored Murrell at its meeting in December.
Murrell is an English literature and creative writing major at KU. She will graduate from the University Honors Program with highest distinction in May.
The scholarship provides all expenses for two or three years of study at the University of Oxford in England. In some instances, funding is provided for four years.
