Providence Day graduate selected as Rhodes Scholar

Timothy Michael McGinnis, a 2008 Providence Day School graduate, has been selected as a 2014 Rhodes scholar, the Rhodes Trust announced over the weekend.
McGinnis, 23, of Charlotte will receive an all-expenses-paid scholarship to study at Oxford University in England.
Eighty-three students were chosen worldwide, including 32 from the United States.
“It was pretty surprising. We knew he was being interviewed,” said father Barry McGinnis, who works as a radiologist and whose family lives in Foxcroft. “It was a pleasant surprise.”
