The school board has decided to honor McFarland graduate Drew Birrenkott by proclaiming Jan. 24, 2014 Drew Birrenkott Day. Birrenkott was named a Rhodes Scholar, one of the most prestigious academic honors a person can received, in late November.

Superintendent Scott Brown said the school has invited Rep. Robb Kahl and Sen. Mark Miller, who represent McFarland, to attend the event. The village will also make a proclamation. Additionally, a school board member will give Birrenkott an award.
